Helga Bragadóttir, RN, PhD, FAAN, is Dean, Professor, and Chair of Nursing Administration at the University of Iceland Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. Her area of research is safety and quality of care. She has led studies on the work of nurses in acute care, missed nursing care and nursing teamwork nationally and internationally. Her main teaching area is nursing administration and leadership. In partnership with colleagues at the University of Minnesota, she is a pioneer in collaborative on-line international learning (COIL) in health sciences. She has served on several committees and boards within nursing and health care in Iceland and Europe and serves now as an executive member of the European Federation of Educators in Nursing Science. She holds a joint position at Landspítali University Hospital where she primarily works with nurse administrators and leaders on the development of nursing services, safety, and quality improvements.
