Dr Doris Grinspun is the Chief Executive Officer of the Nurses' Professional Association of Ontario (RNAO), since 1996. The RNAO is the largest professional association in Canada and represents professional nurses (RNs and NPs) and nursing students in the province of Ontario, the largest jurisdiction in Canada. The mandate of the RNAO is to promote healthy public policy and the role of nurses in optimizing health outcomes. Dr Grinspun is the founder (1999) and visionary of the RNAO Good Practice Guidelines Programme - an internationally recognised gold standard. Dr Grinspun is also a leading figure in Canadian and international health and nursing policy. She has led the RNAO to be recognised by nurses, policy makers, the press and the public as an advocate for evidence-based solutions to both health policy and clinical and managerial practice.
