Fahadi Mawanda is a Health Planner currently working with the Ministry of Health, Uganda as a Senior Health Planner. With over 13 years of experience in strategic and operational planning for health-related policy interventions, Fahadi has contributed to formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Uganda’s health sector plans and strategies, particularly in the areas of health equity, healthcare access, and the impact of external funding on the sector. He holds a Master of Science degree in Development Economics as well as a Master’s degree in Public Health. Fahadi has supported several District Local Governments and ministry of Health departments in formulating their respective Strategic and operational plans with a focus on compliance with existing Public Financial Management (PFM) best practices as well as the required health sector specific standards and policy guidelines aimed at achieving the broad UHC goals as well as specific local targets. At the Seventh AfHEA Scientific Conference in Kigali, Rwanda, Fahadi will present a paper focused on Strengthening Public Financial Management for Health Service Delivery in Kakumiro and Kassanda Districts, Uganda exploring how to improve planning, budgeting, and tracking at the sub-national level for efficient utilization and accountability of funds for the delivery of essential health services.
