Magrieta Langins
Nursing and midwifery policy advisor, World Health Organization, Regional Office for Europe
Margrieta Langins is the nursing and midwifery policy advisor to the WHO Regional Office for Europe. Maggie is a Latvian Canadian trained nurse. Maggie’s work with the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region is focused on strategically strengthening the nursing and midwifery professions to work safely under decent working conditions, working to the full extent of their education and being key contributors to the design and leadership of health systems for the benefit of patients and communities. The Regional Office has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of the needs and opportunities to strengthen the role of Government Chief Nursing Officers in the European Region, advancing nursing roles in the European Region and most recently on improving working conditions through their work in the EU funded Nursing Action. Her team has also most recently paired up with ICN to support nursing leadership in Ukraine.
