Lian-Hua Huang
3rd Vice President, Board member, International Council of Nurses
Dr Lian-Hua Huang is a well-known nurse leader in Taiwan. She is now Professor Emeritus of National Taiwan University. Additionally, she serves as controller of Taiwan Nurses Association and 3rd Vice President of International Council of Nurses. Dr Huang obtained her PhD in Nursing and Master in Genetic Counseling from the University of Colorado, USA. She also earned an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from National Taiwan University. As a nurse leader, Dr Huang has made tremendous contributions to nursing education, research, practice, and policy in Taiwan. She has successfully turned the crisis of nursing shortage into opportunities. These changes included: increasing the nurses’ pay equivalent to that of other medical personnel; increasing the subsidies of the evening and night shifts. These policy decisions brought significant changes to other hospitals in Taiwan. Dr Huang has committed herself to the advancement of the nursing profession, and her contributions have been highly recognized nationally and internationally. She was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) as a Fellow in 2015, awarded Lifetime Achievement Prize of Sigma Theta Tau International Lambda-Bata Chapter in 2020, and became Certified Global Nurse Consultant (CGNC) in 2021.
